Plumbing Careers Are an Excellent Choice

Our apprentices have proven time and time again to be some of our greatest assets. People who are willing to work hard, learn the plumbing industry, and build real-world skills deserve an opportunity to get their start in the skilled trades.

There is a strong demand for skilled plumbers in Ohio, and that demand creates excellent career opportunities for people entering the plumbing trade. Wages continue to grow, and plumbing offers the opportunity to build a rewarding career with skills that can remain valuable for decades.

Plumbing and Artificial Intelligence

Plumbing offers something that is becoming increasingly valuable in a changing job market: long-term career stability. Artificial intelligence is already changing the value of certain skills. Jobs that once required years of education and experience to perform tasks like analyzing information, preparing reports, creating content, or processing data can increasingly use AI to accomplish those tasks faster and with fewer people. Over time, that has the potential to change how much employers are willing to pay for some of those skills.

The skilled trades are different. AI can provide information, calculations, and other tools to a plumber, but it doesn't eliminate the need for someone to physically diagnose, install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems. The core value of the trade remains tied to skilled hands-on work, problem-solving, and experience in the field. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment for plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters to grow 4% between 2024 and 2034, with approximately 44,000 openings every year. That's about 22,700 additional jobs over the decade, before accounting for workers who retire or leave the occupation (2026).

Unlike many careers, plumbing is a hands-on trade that can't easily be replaced by artificial intelligence. There will always be a need for skilled plumbers.

Hands-On Learning from Experienced Plumbers and Technicians

Why Starting As A Plumbing Apprentice Has Its Advantages

While experienced plumbers are in high demand, we've discovered that there are some real advantages to hiring people who are just entering the plumbing trade with little to no experience.

Apprentices have the opportunity to learn our standards for quality and customer service from the beginning. They're not battling years of habits that may need to be changed once they join our team. Instead, we can help them develop the skills, work ethic, and attention to detail that we expect from our team.

Younger people entering the skilled trades can also bring a willingness to learn new technology and adapt to the way the industry is changing. Plumbing has changed significantly over the years, and staying current with new technology, products, and codes is an important part of being a successful plumber.

For someone looking to start a career in plumbing, a willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and good attitude can make you incredibly valuable to any plumbing company.
