Water Heater Maintenance Services

Keeping Your Water Heater in Tip-Top Shape

As water heaters work, they collect sediment from the water that passes through. Tankless water heaters are much more sensitive to this sediment and should be flushed once a year to maintain optimal operation. Without maintenance, their life span can be cut in half, so it's important to have them flushed annually.

Tanked water heaters are much more resilient, and will still last the standard 10 to 12 years without regular maintenance on treated water, but they still collect sediment in the bottom of the tank. This can cause:

  • Rust on the tank from the inside out

  • Surprise leaks

  • Rusted elements

To avoid these issues, tanked water heaters should be flushed every year to remove the sediment deposits. This increases their life expectancy by 5 to 8 years and keeps them working efficiently.

For most brands and models, we recommend annual flushing maintenance as they're much more sensitive to mineral build up and calcification. Some newer models and brands are built to handle these issues with ease, and only require a simple filter change every year.

Tankless Water Heaters

Save Space and Money With Hot Water Use

Tankless water heaters are an excellent option for anyone looking to

  • Lower energy usage

  • Lower utility bills

  • Improve space use

We recommend gas tankless options over electric due to their reliability, but both options will provide the same solutions listed above. When tankless options were first available, they were not known for being the most durable or reliable option for hot water. However, as popularity has risen over the years, and as manufacturer's begin producing their 3rd and 4th lines of tankless water heaters, they've improved in reliability and innovation.

Whether you're looking to switch to tankless, or you made the change years ago, Greene's is here to help you with your tankless water heater needs.
