As a Trane dealer, we're a little biased when it comes to this question. Trane is our obvious choice - we wouldn't carry it if we didn't believe in it. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate the quality in other brands. In our experience, Trane is the most efficient and the most durable. We trust it to last the longest, and see old units running well all the time. We recently replaced one that was from the 1970's! Each brand has a need they try to meet. Trane and Rheem focus on efficiency. Rheem used to be a less expensive alternative to Trane, but with recent price increases across the industry, the prices have become pretty similar. We do carry WeatherKing, the secondary brand produced by Rheem, as well as other IBC equipment. While Lennox has an excellent reputation, they haven't been keeping up with the quality of other manufacturers over the last several years. In our opinion, the prices don't reflect this very well. We've dealt in a lot of Concord/Ducane units, the secondary Lennox brand. The less expensive models seem to be priced in line with the quality received, and seem to be a more durable budget-friendly option than other secondary product lines. Most other brands we haven't been impressed with for a variety of reasons: cost of repair parts, lack of longevity, too expensive for what it is, overrated, or inconsistent with their quality. When it comes to this question, we don't like to speak poorly of any specific brand. We're constantly asking brand reps what they're doing to improve, what they're changing, etc. and as we work on different brands, we get a feel for their mechanical integrity, as well. We don't enjoy callbacks, so we install equipment that we trust to last a long time. We don't enjoy high energy bills, so we deal with brands that have well-tested high-efficiency models.
